BIM 360 Docs will be replacing BIM 360 Team, however, existing BIM 360 Team users will continue to have access to the existing BIM 360 Team projects in addition to the ability to create and access new projects created in Docs.
Effective February 9, 2021, BIM 360 Design™ software has been renamed and upgraded to BIM Collaborate Pro™. The software now offers new modules, including Model Coordination and Insights*, and access to the new Autodesk Construction Cloud platform at no additional cost.
On November 17, 2020, Autodesk announced a new set of product offerings built on the Autodesk Construction Cloud (Autodesk Construction Cloud) platform.
BIM is a process, a methodology and Revit is a single application built for Building Information Modeling with features for the three main disciplines of the AEC industry, (Architectural, MEP- Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, Structural engineering).
Autodesk Docs is our cloud-based common data environment. BIM 360 Design has been renamed to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro and includes the functionality of Autodesk Docs, plus additional capabilities for design co-authoring, design collaboration and coordination.
All customers that previously purchased BIM 360 Docs will now show that their purchase has been rebranded to Autodesk Docs and now includes access to Autodesk Construction Cloud. There are no price changes for customers.
As a BIM 360 Docs user you do not automatically get access to the Autodesk Docs projects on the Autodesk Construction Cloud. But as an Autodesk Construction Cloud user, you do get access to your BIM 360 projects. A BIM 360 Docs license cannot be converted to an Autodesk Docs license.
Are BIM and Revit software? We often come across people addressing Revit as BIM all together. But the fact is, Revit is not BIM. BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a process/technology/ platform and Revit is one of the many BIM tools/applications available like ArchiCAD, AECOsim, Edificius etc.
What are the differences between BIM and Revit? BIM is the overall process of creating a three-dimensional database in the form of a model of information that pertains to the design of a building. Revit is just one of many software applications under the BIM umbrella that lead to an efficient design of space.
If you are an AEC Collection customer, you will automatically get access to Autodesk Docs, which includes access to BIM 360 Docs.
Description. Introduced at Autodesk University 2019, Construction Cloud brings together the most powerful portfolio of construction management software products in the industry, supporting workflows spanning all phases of construction—from design, to planning, to building, to operations.
The BIM 360 service
Launched in 2015, it finally addressed Autodesk's document management vacuum. Roll forward to 2019 and that suite looks a lot more compelling than the initial offering and seems to improve on a monthly timeline, with enhancements constantly being added.
For Revit 2020 or later, the original BIM 360 entrance in the File Open dialog box has been removed. Cloud models can now be accessed using the Revit Home screen, a more intuitive interface for accessing Cloud projects that simplifies and centralizes cloud model management in one consistent place.
Whereas you have to provide BIM 360 Design licenses for each person you invite to the project for document management, BIM Collaborate Pro is a “bring-your-own-license” (BYOL) product, so each person invited to the project has to use their own subscription.
In Revit version 2018.3, the next generation of C4R was introduced: BIM 360 Design Collaboration. While BIM 360 Design Collaboration is optional in Revit 2018.3 (C4R/Team as the alternative), it is the only form of cloud worksharing available for Revit 2019 and higher.
Revit belongs to the family of BIM software. Sketchup, however, is a CAD software.
The biggest difference is that AutoCAD is a CAD software and Revit is software for BIM. While AutoCAD is a general drawing tool with broad application, Revit is a design and documentation solution, supporting all phases and disciplines involved in a building project.
At this point, the difference between BIM and MEP is quite clear. While BIM is a process that incorporates the different areas of the construction industry, MEP is purely focussed on the plant engineering aspects.
AEB used STAAD.Pro as part of a 3D BIM solution to design all steel structural elements of Qatar's luxury Alfardan Office Tower.
Archicad is a BIM software tool that helps architects build the BIM model of the designed building as well as manage and exchange the information stored in BIM in flexible ways.
BIM and Documentation
Along with various plugins, Rhino integrates with BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflow. Use Rhino features to link geometry and object data with BIM models. Plugins also support import and export with the IFC file format to exchange Rhino models with other AEC applications.
BIM collaboration process can be described as an identification process of different construction phases for a single project. Another part of this definition is the understanding of the process of data and information sharing between different construction phases.
Autodesk® BIM 360™ is a cloud-based construction management platform that improves project delivery and outcomes. BIM 360 supports informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle for project, design, and construction teams.
BIM 360 Design is Autodesk's Revit cloud worksharing, design collaboration, and data management product for all teams in the project lifecycle.
