Apple's AirPods have achieved an all-time high in Piper Sandler's surveys, with 72% of teens currently owning a pair. Piper Sandler also reports that intention of teenagers to get an iPhone as their next phone is broadly the same as before. In Fall 2021, it was 88%, now in Spring 2022, it is 87%.
According to the report, 87 percent of surveyed teens in the United States now own an iPhone, and 87 percent expect their next smartphone to be an iPhone. In addition, 72 percent of teens already own AirPods. Apple Watch ownership continues to climb among teens, reaching 37 percent, up from 34 percent last fall.
The survey data implies that young people are the dominant age group using AirPods: 60% of people from 18–25 and 34% from 26 to 35. This is reasonable if we look further at the demographic analysis, which shows the dominance of full-time college students at 75%.
The company sold 27 million pairs of its newest version of the AirPods, for a total of 90 million sold during the holiday quarter of 2021, according to a report over the weekend from top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TFI Asset Management Limited.
