PDM stands for Product Data Management. PDM is a secure data vault for all your CAD and design process information. A fully configurable environment, SOLIDWORKS PDM enables your teams to securely store design files and related data for fast retrieval.
Don't carry on thinking that your file management needs are being met by Windows Explorer. You need SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional to manage your CAD and non-CAD files effectively and efficiently.
SOLIDWORKS® PDM Professional CAD Editor is a Windows-based client for engineers and designers who work with SOLIDWORKS® and other popular design tools. It provides application-specific integrations to manage the complex file relationships and file properties.
Using a PDM system helps ensure that all stakeholders share a common understanding about a product throughout its lifecycle. Ultimately, a PDM system helps you speed up product development, reduce development errors and costs, and use resources effectively.
Description. The PDM – Power Distribution Module is a low voltage (12 to 30V AC/DC) power distribution module designed to take a single power source and distribute that power to multiple circuits. It comes in 3 or 5 circuit models which can be linked together to achieve multiple circuits.
While PDM focuses on managing design data as it relates to product development processes, PLM centers on reengineering product development and manufacturing processes as they relate to product lifecycles.
SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and SOLIDWORKS Premium packages and can be upgraded to SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional as your team grows.
As a starting point, a SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional CAD Editor Network License starts at $2,285. Annual subscription service on that license is $621and covers technical support, upgrades, and much more.
To access files, you create a working folder on your local computer called a file vault view. Logging in to the file vault view lets you access files for which you have permissions. You check files out to edit them, so that no one else can make changes, though other users can still view and copy the files.
In SOLIDWORKS, click Tools > Add-ins and verify that SOLIDWORKS PDM is selected. Click the SOLIDWORKS PDM icon to open the Task Pane. In SOLIDWORKS, open or create a part, drawing, or assembly to view SOLIDWORKS PDM information for the file in the Task Pane.
In SOLIDWORKS PDM, an item consists entirely of metadata that lives in the vault database. Although items can link to files, they do not contain files themselves and therefore do not exist in the vault archive and do not appear on your local disk. (Item metadata is cached locally; see Item and File Caching . )
This person is the one that is responsible for the SQL database, archive server and database server. This individual will need to be involved during installation or updating to a new software version since they have the required logins for the server and the administrative logins for PDM and SQL.
SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and SOLIDWORKS Premium, and is available as a separately purchased license for non-SOLIDWORKS users. It offers standard data management capabilities for a small number of users.
SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard Contributor. Supports working with SOLIDWORKS, DWG/DXF format, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel files. SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard Viewer. Allows read-only access to file vaults; user cannot add or modify (check out, check in, update values) files.
SOLIDWORKS Professional includes standard tools like libraries of common parts and fasteners, as well as advanced features to automatically estimate manufacturing costs, help convert imported geometry, and search for design errors.
Currently, there are two options available to try SOLIDWORKS for free. The first option is through MySolidWorks which offers an online product trial of the latest version of SOLIDWORKS Premium, all from within your browser.
SolidWorks PLM that's easy to use and improves your productivity. Teamcenter® product lifecycle mangement (PLM) software's integration for SolidWorks increases productivity by providing your design and manufacturing teams a secure, single source of product and process data.
While SOLIDWORKS Manage may not be considered a complete PLM solution, the product offers solutions to many of the requirements set forth by the PLM strategy.
Power Distribution Modules (PDM) for vehicles or commercial equipment feature multiple electrical power outputs, acceptance of many fuses, fuse types & relays and allow for custom configuration.
A power distribution module (PDM) is used to provide electrical power from a main power source to a variety of vehicle or equipment peripherals which may require the following: Compact form factors when reliability and safety are factors. Cost reduction challenges. High power electrical terminals.
iPDM is an intelligent electronic power distributor with a cut-off function that ensures and manages the power supply for a scalable number of connected loads in the vehicle. It can also protect connect- ed lines against thermal overload.
